April 2008
Our bred-by male, Ashes Rushville Rocket (aka Stewart), owned by Nick Hilferink of Moonrising Kennels in the Netherlands, attends his first show and was awarded a 3 Excellent out of a class of eight males his age.
Way to go Nick. He looks absolutely amazing and so grown up now. I am so proud of you both!!!!
Stewart is pictured below at 9 months, pic taken in late April.

What we look for in a breeding is to maintain the TRUE written standard of this breed, taking into consideration our own list of health standards that we maintain stringent guidelines for, but concentrating also on what the written AKC standard actually states:
"well put together, muscular, but agile and graceful; stocky not racy"
"medium length head, broad skull with well pronounced cheeks, distinct stop"
"dark eyes, medium length muzzle, no loose skin on jowels"
"short back, slightly sloping from withers to rump and again to tail"
"well sprung ribs, forelegs set slightly wide to allow a well developed chest (deep and broad)"
"correct tailset AND carriage, of medium length and thickness"
"adequate, yet not overdone, on rear angulation, front legs straight with large round bones and strong pasterns"
"good reach and drive to provide proper flow of movement"
"feet adequately tight with shorter toes, naturally placed should set strait forward, not east-west or pointed inward towards each other"
"we like our bitches and dogs to both be of STANDARD height at 17-1/2 to 19 inches (we are heartbroken to see so many 20-22+ inch dogs out there that make our PROPER STANDARD HEIGHT look too small)"
"full pigmentation of leather on nose, and full eye rim pigmentation"
